More About Our Church: Our congregation is affiliated with the Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ). Our local congregation was founded in 1892,
and we have grown up with Grand Island. Our founders wanted to reclaim the
new Testament meanings of baptism by immersion as a deep personal
experience, of the simple weekly celebration of the Lord's Supper and of the
unity of the whole people of God. We continue along these emphasis. We
believe that no human being has the authority to tell another person
precisely how to interpret the Bible. Freedom of opinion is valued in our
Fellowship. We believe in diversity without division.
